Dark and Stormy

If you’re having the crowd over at your home, nothing is easier than making a simple cocktail dark & stormy. I watched carefully the bartender when I was visiting Rome last year, and I try to remake it at home, every time I had my friends over. They actually love it! All you need is dark rum, ginger and ginger beer.

50 ml of dark rum (Bacardi Oro or Captain Morgan)
100 ml of ginger beer
3 cm slice of ginger (crushed)
ginger syrup (optional, but if you prefer a sweet taste)
ice cubes
slice of Lime (optional)

Pick a long drink glass, or if you don’t have one, you can use your red wine glass. Here’s the important technique, fill the glass with ice cubes. I’ve learned from my mistake, if you put the liquid first, the ice cubes will float.

After fill the glass with the ices cubes, put the crushed ginger in between the ice. If you prefer less spicy, you can put a slice of ginger without crushing it. Then pour the ginger syrup, ginger beer and rum at the end.

Serve with a slice of lime if you like it, or keep it original if you prefer a strong ginger. Stir with a cocktail spoon before you drink it.
